Raymond occupies a particular place in Indian menswear: it is both a ready-made brand and one of the country’s great suiting mills. We stock it in both forms — finished suits and jackets off the rail, and Raymond suiting on the bolt for customers who want the cloth made up to their own measurements.
What we stock
On the ready-made floor: Raymond suits, blazers, formal trousers and shirts across the core business colours — navy, charcoal, mid-grey and black — in the full size range.
On the fabric side: Raymond suiting by the metre, in the weights that make sense for Chennai rather than the heavy worsteds designed for northern winters. If you like the cloth but not the ready-made cut, we will make it up for you in our own workshop.
Ready-made or made for you?
A ready-made Raymond suit, altered properly, is a sound and sensible buy for occasional formal wear — a wedding you are attending, an interview, a first job. It will do the job and it will do it well.
If the suit is going to be worn weekly, or if your build is anywhere outside the standard grades — sloping shoulders, a fuller chest, a significant drop between chest and waist — the bespoke route will serve you better over time and often costs less than people assume. We are happy to tell you honestly which of the two you actually need.
Altered in-house, by our own tailors
Every garment bought at Sellers can be altered in-house before you take it home. We keep a full bespoke workshop on the premises — the same master tailors who cut our made-to-measure suits will shorten a sleeve, take in a waist, taper a leg or adjust a shoulder. Most alterations are done the same week; simple hemming is often done while you wait.
This is the practical difference between buying a shirt at Sellers and buying the same shirt anywhere else in Chennai. A ready-made garment is cut for an average body. Yours is not average. The alteration is what closes that gap, and it is included in the way we work rather than treated as an afterthought.
