Dressing a team.

Most people build a work wardrobe by accident — a jacket bought in a hurry, trousers from a sale, shirts collected over five years in four different fits. It never quite hangs together, and the reason isn't the money spent. It's that nothing was planned.

Start with a conversation instead. Tell us the job, the people you sit across from, the dress code as it actually is rather than as the handbook describes it, how much you travel, and how many of your weeks are formal versus not. From that we work out what to buy first and what can wait. Very few people need everything at once; two or three good pieces now and more over the year is the sensible way.

For most working people in Chennai the base is: two or three suits (navy, charcoal, and a third with some variety in it), four to six shirts, two pairs of versatile trousers, and one blazer that behaves in both a meeting and a dinner. Get those right and everything mixes with everything else. Some of it we'll make for you; some of it you'll pick off the rail and we'll take in. Either way it should end up looking like one wardrobe.

A staff uniform tells a visitor how seriously the place takes itself, which is exactly why a badly fitted one does damage. Same design, same cloth, wrong shoulders on half the team, and the impression collapses.

We work with hotels, restaurants, banks, law firms, showrooms and clinics around Chennai on uniforms that fit each person wearing them. The difference between a fitted uniform and a bought-in one is the difference between staff who look dressed and staff who look costumed. A garment cut to a person's measurements moves with them, holds its shape through a shift, and still looks right at closing time.

Group orders run as a project. For teams of twelve or more we'll come to your premises to measure, keep the whole run on one production schedule, and coordinate fittings so nobody loses half a working day. Where a good ready-made shirt or trouser does the job, we'll say so and fit that instead — it is often faster and cheaper, and it comes back looking just as sharp.

Alongside company work we handle a lot of one-off group orders: wedding parties where the brothers and groomsmen need to match the groom, conference teams who want a single standard, delegations who'd rather not look like they got dressed in different cities.

These run best with one measuring session, one brief agreed at the start, and one production run so the cloth comes from the same piece and the finish is identical across every garment. You get one person to call about the whole thing and a schedule you can hold us to.

We start with whoever is making the decision — HR, the managing partner, the event organiser, or the person who'll be wearing it. What is it for, how many people, what does it need to look like, what's the budget for cloth, and when is the deadline. From that you get a written proposal with specifications, per-unit pricing and a schedule.

Then measurements, either at the shop in Adyar for individuals and small groups, or at your office for larger teams. Our cutters are used to working through a room of people quickly without turning it into a spectacle. Each person gets their own pattern.

Before we cut the whole run, we make up one garment — usually for the hardest fit in the group — and fit it. Once you're happy with that, production runs through and everything is delivered together, pressed and ready to wear.

Corporate customers tend to stay with us for years, because the work doesn't stop at delivery. People join, people leave, people change shape. We keep every pattern on file and add to an existing uniform programme without starting over. For individuals, the next suit or the extra pair of trousers is a phone call, not a fresh consultation.
