Gift Vouchers

A voucher that fits.

Buying clothes for someone else is a guess. Buying them the choice isn't.

Sellers gift voucher on suiting cloth

Everybody knows the problem. You want to give someone clothes, you know their taste roughly, you get the size slightly wrong, and it sits in a cupboard. A voucher from here skips all of that. They come in, they choose, and whatever they choose is made or fitted to them. It works for a full bespoke suit, for two shirts off the rail with the sleeves taken up, and for everything between.

What it covers

Our vouchers come in set amounts and can be spent on anything we do — a bespoke suit, a set of shirts, a sherwani, a jacket off the rail from Louis Philippe or Blackberrys, or simply a pile of alterations. Nothing in the shop is excluded.

The recipient comes in, picks what they want, and the voucher comes off the bill. If they spend more, they pay the difference. If they spend less, the balance stays on their name for next time. Vouchers don't expire and we don't hand back cash for them.

The usual amounts line up with what people actually buy: enough for a pair of trousers or a couple of shirts; enough for a jacket; enough for a full bespoke suit. Tell us who it's for and what the occasion is and we'll suggest the right one rather than upselling you.

When it works well

Weddings and engagements. A voucher towards the groom's suit or sherwani, or towards what the brothers will wear, is a gift that gets used within months rather than stored. He orders what he actually needs, cut for him.

A new job or a promotion. The moment when the existing wardrobe stops being adequate and nobody has had time to do anything about it. A voucher gets someone into a shop they'd have put off visiting for another six months.

Big birthdays. For the person who has everything and is picky about all of it. Nobody guesses their collar size wrong, and they end up with something they chose.

Fathers, fathers-in-law, brothers. The men who will happily spend on everyone else and never on themselves. A voucher removes the decision they keep deferring. A good number of our long-standing customers first walked in holding one, sent by somebody who knew them well.

How to buy one

In person at the shop, by phone, or over email. We don't sell them through a web checkout — partly because it's worth two minutes of conversation to get the amount right, and partly because the voucher is a physical thing: a printed card in an envelope, meant to be handed over or posted.

Call or WhatsApp +91 91761 22221, or email hello@sellersstudio.net with the amount you have in mind and what it's for. We'll confirm the details, take payment, and either post it or hold it for you to collect. If you can't hand it over yourself, we're happy to write a note to go with it.

If someone gave you one

Somebody has bought you time with people who have been cutting and fitting clothes in Adyar since 1997. All you have to do is come in, whenever suits you. Monday to Saturday, 11am to 9.30pm, 3 Sardar Patel Road.

You don't need to arrive knowing what you want. Plenty of people don't. We'll talk about what you actually wear, what's missing, and what the voucher comfortably covers — which might be a bespoke jacket, or might be three good shirts fitted properly. Either is a fine use of it.

Vouchers can be passed on. If you'd rather someone else had it, tell us and we'll reissue it in their name.

Alterations

Bought here, altered here. Usually the same week.
